About WhatToEat
WhatToEat is a free food-decision tool for Singapore, built and run by Eidolon, a small Singapore-based studio. One job: when you cannot decide what to eat, we get you from "anything lah" to a real stall, fast.
How our dish pages are written
The dish taxonomy (which dishes exist, their names, aliases, spice levels, price bands and halal availability) is curated by hand by our team. The write-ups on each dish page are drafted with AI assistance, then edited and checked by us before publishing. We deliberately keep them to what we can stand behind: how the dish works, what a good version gets right, and how to order it. We do not invent awards, origin stories, named stalls or prices we have not verified.
Spot a mistake? Tell us via the feedback widget on any page or email stan@eidolon.biz. We fix errors, not argue with them.
Where restaurant data comes from
Stall and restaurant listings (names, ratings, photos, opening hours) come live from Google Maps every time you search. We do not store, rank or edit them. Nobody can pay to appear in your swipe deck results. Where a partner promotion appears, it is clearly labelled as such and kept separate from search results.
Our halal filter cross-checks stalls against the MUIS certified eating establishment directory published on data.gov.sg. Read more on our halal in Singapore page.
Imagery
Editorial dish photos are licensed images from Wikimedia Commons, credited to their photographers on the page where they appear. Restaurant photos in the live finder come directly from Google Maps and stay with their listings.
